Erika Geremia

Could you please tell us about your background and your current role?

Born and raised right next to the tech capital of Canada I was lucky to start my career working for a small eCommerce company that managed eBay data. Starting my career in Customer Success was an excellent way to see what career options were available within technology and learn about the pain points of small businesses who need to use tech to stay relevant and compete globally. Eventually, this company was acquired by eBay where I would go on to manage and lead an integration with Shopify and BigCommerce. These integrations generated hundreds of millions of dollars for both companies and allowed me to travel across North America, meeting with sellers and helping them take advantage of our platforms. Despite having a lot of room for growth and a lot of learning opportunities, I felt that I wanted to return to my startup roots, looking for a small, smart team that was trying to solve a big, tough problem. That search led me to Tread where I’ve been ever since!

What do you like most about your job?

I love working with my team and seeing the amazing things they do for our clients. When I first started at Tread I was a team of one. There were a lot of things I failed to do because I simply didn’t have the time or resources. My team often comes up with better ideas or does things in a better way than I ever did. I rest easy at night knowing that all our clients are in the best hands because they have a group of people all looking to support them.

How do you like to spend time outside of work?

I live on the west coast so my partner and I spend a lot of time skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. When I’m not outside I spend my time teaching myself how to paint, watching dramas like Sons of Anarchy or Yellowstone, and playing with my dog.

As a Director of Customer Success, what’s an average work day like for you?

No two days look the same but the majority of my time is spent on client calls and demos. In between, you can find me planning for the next quarter or feature, coaching my team, and keeping an eye on metrics.

What’s your favorite Tread feature and why?

It sounds simple but I love the bulk send feature. Being able to select >100 drivers at once and hit a button knowing they will ALL get instructions at the same time is such a game changer for so many of our customers. Having spent time on the front lines of Customer Success I have spent enough time on the phone to know that calling over 100 people every day is unsustainable. I’m happy we can save all our clients that time right off the bat while we work on implementing the more complex features like digital timesheets or cycle times for subcontractors.

From your perspective, how does Tread solve our customers’ challenges?

At Tread we always talk about how our goal is to first digitize existing workflows, then transform them with the data we collect. Tread is taking a lot of the paper-based work that people are doing today and putting it into a digital context. By having all of this data available to you and all your coworkers in one place, it allows you to make more intelligent decisions about your business. I love hearing about customers who can start processing payments faster because of our platform, or are able to get to a broken down truck sooner. By taking the time to digitize their processes, our clients save so much time everywhere else in their business.

Is there a problem & solution that you’d love to work on in the future in the construction industry?

The cost of fuel is going up every year and is often the largest expense for a company. I’d love to see our clients start to use Tread to reduce the amount of time they run empty, or reduce how often foremen and site supervisors over-estimate how many trucks are needed to do a job.
